Randy is a young vision-minded, Ghanaian-based entrepreneur
who is passionate about making an impact in his generation. He belongs to a new
breed of entrepreneurs whose motivation for going into business is not just to
satisfy a need and get rewarded for it, but most importantly, to use business
as a tool to change the world and advance the kingdom of God on earth. Hence, he
refers to himself as a “Spiritpreneur” (Spiritual and entrepreneur).
Mr. Randy Osae Bediako, the Spiritpreneur, lets us in on
his business:
My Inspiration
I think my mother sparked my entrepreneurial spirit. Growing up, I saw
her trade in so many things simultaneously. Even though her focus in trading
was just to keep the home running, her phenomenal ability caught my attention
and ignited a passion in me to identify and solve problems. At age 15, I was already
managing two of my mom’s wood carving shops. Kharis Media Limited was, however,
inspired by a deep desire to see Godly change through the media and business in
general.
About Kharis Media
Kharis Media Limited is a cutting edge media-oriented company founded
on Christian principles with an audacious vision to be a world leader in promoting
God’s kingdom on earth through diversified media platforms and other business
interests. Kharis Media has a knack for producing world-class products and
services for Ghanaians and the rest of the world. It was founded in 2009 and
re-registered in 2011. As experts in Publishing,
Press and Outdoor Advertising, Graphic Design & Communication, Commercial
Printing, Corporate Events and Courier Delivery Services, Kharis Media has
become the preferred partner to several organisations, individuals and groups
in Ghana and overseas.
Our Consumer Insights
Our flagship product, Kharis
Magazine, won the admiration of many Christians in Ghana and overseas when
we defied odds to create an exclusive Christian magazine for a dominant
faith-based market who were tired of reading magazines that had no relevance to
their faith as believers in a dynamic world.
This led to the instant success
of Kharis magazine which created other related business opportunities for us.
Our Achievements and Impact in Society
Kharis Foundation, the relief
unit of the company, paid the school fees of 13 intelligent but destitute Islamic
SHS students in 2010.
Kharis Magazine our flagship product was adjudged “Best Christian Magazine”
in 2011 by LEC.
In 2014, Kharis Media organized
the “SPIRITPRENEURSHIP SUMMIT,” the premiere
gathering of Christian entrepreneurs and corporate executives for networking
and learning opportunities.
Our Projections
Kharis Media runs eight strategic business units currently. We are
developing and nurturing other related business units to eventually become fully-fledged
companies under the Kharis Group umbrella.
Our flagship product and most profound business unit, Kharis magazine, is strategically
building a chain of Christian oriented magazines to meet different needs. Having won the Best Christian
magazine award in Ghana, Kharis magazine is working hard to become Africa’s most relevant
Christian-oriented publication.
We are deepening our outdoor
advertising thrust in order to create alternative advertising opportunities
for more companies in Ghana. Kharis
Books, our book publishing department, is strategically repositioning to
lead publishing in Africa, whereas Kharis
express, our courier service business, is growing at a fast pace to revolutionize
the courier service industry.
We have a strong dream to go into Radio and TV and with hard work,
determination and the grace of God we know we would be able to bring this dream
to reality. The rest remains our secret (smiles).
My Advice
Start right; start with God! Also, remember that the stages in business
are like the stages in life; you can’t force growth. You need a great deal of
patience, focus and tact to succeed. Money should not be the main motivator for
going into business, but a desire to solve problems and make the world a better
place. If these priorities are placed right, trust me, money would just move
towards you effortlessly.
To become a successful entrepreneur, you need vision, passion and
tenacity. People should be allowed to make good assessments of their unique abilities,
passion and interests before going into any field of business; that way, when
things get hard, their passion and love would keep them moving.
