Common Marketing Mistakes

Marketing your company does not have to be difficult or expensive. There are many techniques you can use to draw attention to your product or service without having to break the bank. People want the advantages that come with good marketing but sometimes, they make some pretty silly mistakes. Here are a few of them.

 Not advertizing your popularity:  There is this misconception that when you have a good product, it will sell itself, but this idea cannot be more wrong. One of the biggest mistakes you can make in marketing is not doing it. People are not going to know about your product unless you tell them, so begin today.

Thinking you do not need a blog: It does not matter what business you are in, you can benefit from blogging. Depending on what content you include on your blog, you can attract, engage and retain customers. In order to make the most out of it, you must;

Host it on your website
Have high quality and relevant content
Respond to all comments. This will create a rapport and customers are more likely to trust  you.

Underestimating social media networks: People who are not in the marketing field often think that social media is a waste of time because it distracts a person from getting work done. Here is the thing though, building up a profile on popular social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Google + is actually good for your company. It not only leads to more traffic to your site but it also creates new opportunities and ultimately, it can lead to more customers.

Forgetting about YouTube: Videos are a plus if you have to demonstrate to your audience how your product should be used and they tend to hold people’s interest more. If you want your company to go viral, and you do, then do not underestimate what posting videos on YouTube can do for you.

Overlooking exceptional customer service: A lot of companies focus on creating a great product or service but what they fail to do is support this product or service with excellent customer relations. Poor customer service leads to unsatisfied customers and this undoubtedly leads to bad word of mouth. You really would not want your product destroyed by negative comments. When your customers are happy about your product and your customer service, they tend to stay loyal to your brand and spread word about your company. Referrals are a great, free way of getting more business!

Failing to network: Not everyone can get up and speak to a room full of people, but that is no reason not to go for conferences or exhibitions. These are great places to meet new people, build relationships and get new businesses through these relationships. Attend conferences; get your name out there. Even if you do not get new businesses from the people you meet, they could introduce you to those who can help you, but you need the relationship first.

As stated earlier, effective marketing does not have to be expensive; you just have to get creative.  The time you invest in it will be well worth it.
